Just some things I'm inspired by lately

1: Mad Men
In particular, Betty Draper. She dresses very femiminely, with very poofy skirts and lots of pastels and florals, not really my kind of style, but I just love seeing what she'll wear next. I do like how put together she is, all the time, no matter what she's doing.

The girl who writes this blog (and I just realized I don't even know her name) has just the best style EVER. Again, it's not really "my style", but she has a wonderful way of looking very bookish and girly and adorable but sophisticated! And she always has interesting thoughts.
Her "Weird Girls" post, her thoughts on red lipstick, and literary fashion. And of course her amazing style!

3: The kind of French-Coco-Chanel-chic

In particular, this blog post, the jacket in this pic just makes me want to die of happiness! Thinking about this reminds me I want to watch the Coco Before Chanel movie...

Inspirations post: Christy

This is going to be a post about the things that inspire my style. I'm sure I'm not aware of half the things that inspire me but I'll give this a go.

All the right moves by One Republic
This song/video makes me think about how what we wear says so much. I'm not sure why but it inspires me to be adventurous and to think about what motivates me. It's about connections and having them. I'm sometimes not sure if I rely on my connections, my old friends, too much. This song makes me want to forge ahead, and trail blaze my own path. Cheesy? probably.....

White Dresses
As summer is approaching I've seen a lot of white dresses in magazines and pictures. I haven't acted on this yet but I've been craving white, light, floaty, drapy kinds of clothes. Even what I'm wearing today is inspired by that because I was playing with a loose draped sweater over a dress.

(credits: vanity fair, Instyle,)Zooey Deschanel in 500 days of summer is undeniably beautiful but it's in a very unconventional way. I think her style in that movie inspires me because she almost always wears skirts and dresses and looks fresh and unusual. (credit:
Mod Cloth: Not gonna lie. I love modcloth clothes. Not that I've ever been able to afford any of them but I love looking through their clothes and imagining cheaper/more accessible versions that I could rustle up.

Carey Mulligan's character in "the Greatest": I love the bright primary colours that she wears. It's bold and very visually appealing.

The clothes horse blog
: This is probably an obvious one, but the way that Rebecca mixes vintage clothes with items from stores I'm familiar with like H&M and Forever 21 is always interesting and inspiring.

There are many more things that inspire me but this is just a sampling.
In several months I'll try to do a follow up post. :)

A little wind: wish it was warmer.

The weather is frustrating. When I look out the window, I think "wow it looks lovely out and I would enjoy a walk" but then I step outside and it's much colder than I would like it to be.
Oh spring! why aren't you warmer?

Despite the conditions I nipped outside to take a few pictures with Killarney. (or just of Killarney)
I had to cut my session short though because the wind kept knocking over my camera and my camera was running out of batteries. Ya.....

Spring theme

I wasn't sure about this one (above)--if it was taking the "vogue" too far and looking like I was trying too hard or what...

As you can see I'm wearing now only the skirt you gave me, but also using the bag (which I do like now, haha. In fact I remember one of the things I was "upset" about was that you said you thought the bag was my style, and I didn't think so when I got it, but now I'm like "what was I thinking??" idk...). I don't know if you've seen a pic of my cloche hat before. For some reason I always feel stupid when I wear it so I don't very often =-/ And this is making me LOVE knee socks, I really need to get some more pairs in different colors!!
I have the same pics plus a few extra on my FB, and also on FB in a different album is some cat/dog pics if you're interested.

Fixed the layout.

Well I just spent like an hour fiddling with the HTML trying to put a header on our blog. it doesn't help that I know about nil when it comes to this kind of thing and the only way i figured it out was by copy-pasting some HTML code out of an old LJ layout....which worked but only after i figured out what part of the code to add the new bits too.....
but it worked at last :)

Here is just a sampling of the pictures I took of Sophie for my project. I love the different bright elements. It's so fun :)
