Laura: Green sweater

I finally got the new size for my shoes, and wore them out and about today! They're super comfortable and I like the little lift I get from the 2 inch heel instead of just being flat. The only downside is I don't think the stain/polish is super great because after some snow melting there were a few smeary patches. I guess I'll either have to invest in some sort of leather spray or avoid the wet.
That's Sammy, in the foreground.
Ooh, I so cannot wait until it's spring and summer and I can go outside to take all sorts of artsy pictures! I envy bloggers who manage to look stylish in the snow. Between turning red/blue as soon as I step outside, to probably not having a great quality camera, it just doesn't seem possible. That, and I have little tolerance for deep snow...and I hate the thought of getting any of my outfits wet. So for now you'll have to make do with haphazard shots in which I amputate my own feet and generally look very sketchy. :P

Oh, this is Chester. He's our resident fatso! :D

Laura: if wishes were horses...

My "Gallop with Glamor" dress arrived!!! And there was no way I was waiting until Spring to wear it, so I decided to debut it with tights, and a sweater.
unfortunatly when all your family is either sleeping or renovating you can't get them to take pictures and I end up blurry or beheaded.

I'm sure you'll be seeing this dress a LOT more once warm weather (*sigh*) returns!

Laura: Merry Christmas!!

(me with my cousin, Elizabeth)
Hope you all had a lovely Christmas Day yesterday! Here's a couple of pictures of what I wore yesterday and today:

These are my new tights from Modcloth, btw. I love them, however they keep falling down...which is very frustrating.

I was feeling very festive all decked out in red :P

What did you all get for Christmas? Two of my favorite gifts were Marie Antoinette on dvd, and a book Selkie Girl, which was quite lovely (reccomended if you liked the film Ondine). :)

Christy: Are you sure you're sweater material?

Fall in my favorite season for sure. I love the crispness in the air, and I love the temperature when you can wear tights and a sweater with skirts and dresses and jeans.
This weekend I went apple picking with my room mate and some international students. It was really beautiful.
We had a bit of trouble figuring out which trees were which type of apple. We're pretty sure we picked cortland apples and Macintosh but who knows. At one point we accidentally wandered into a neighbouring orchard. We only realized our mistake when we bumped into two girls carrying different apple picking bags.
We also went for a short hike up the mountain where we got a great view of the changing trees.

Here are some pictures I snapped.

The street my apartment is on. Those are my friends at the end of the street. They were jogging to the store to buy milk so we could make pan cakes.

This is one of my new favorite sweaters. It's lambs wool and angora. So cozy

Hair!!

So as I said earlier, I got my hair cut by Tenley Jank who was trained at some high-end salon in the States where they charged like 200 per cut and had people like Gweneth Paltrow in. She also did the hair styling for a Betsey Johnson runway show!! And, I LOVE my new hair cut. It probably won't look quite the same after I wash it but right now it's amazing.

Btw I think I got this sweater at that thrift store in the summer with you. It's by GAP? This is like the second time I've worn it and I only wore it cause everything else was in the wash, I've decided I actually like it now.

My first post of the new Year

I regret that my posts have been so far apart and I will try to make my posting more regular.
Outside it is snowing and the temperature is still below zero which makes wearing certain things impossible but i like to try and find creative ways to wear skirts and unusual clothes no matter what the weather. Leggings over tights or wearing two pairs of tights is a good way to do this as it keeps you quite warm.
the following outfit may be slightly ridiculous but it is also quite warm. And in my defense I think the bulky belted sweater is balanced out by the short skirt, leggings and chunky socks.
Also, I don't understand why these pictures always fail to be really flattering.....sigh

Opinions wanted, cheap

And here we have my "oh yea this is slobby Laura". Actually I'm wearing makeup here but only cause I was testing a look out.
So here we have the first contender for the Christmas Day outfit...^^
Or this ^ v. The first outfit is "safer", guarenteed to please and the color is good on me and all. The second outfit is more interesting and has more "new" things :P Also not as safe. The skirt is short so there's always the possiblility of a wardrobe malfunction, and it may be that it doesn't photograph as well in the annual Christmas Family Pictures. Also, I'm worried it the grey makes me look washed out (although on the day I'll have on full makeup).

Disproportionate and Dressy

I realize that I look a little Disproportionate in these pictures, probably because I am standing on the stairs and pictures are taken from below.
I'm hoping that that is the answer to why my waist looks so fat. Either that or I'm starting to gain some serious Christmas fat. Or maybe I just always look that way and only i perceive it as fat...

anyways. at least I like what I'm wearing.

First Outfit. I wore this to a Christmas party I went to. The dress itself is sleeveless so the sweater isn't hiding very much.

Outfit 2: I haven't worn this anywhere yet. I just got the dress and belt yesterday so I decided to try out an outfit with it. Again, my head looks disproportionate. This next picture is the only one in the set where I really really like how I look. I love the buckle on the belt. Even though the belt only fits me at the smallest point in my waist I still fell in love with the vintagy feel of the flower on the buckle.

Randomness and URGHah

This is what I wore to the ladies dinner at church. It's a very crappy picture and the way I'm standing makes it look like the top has no shape but it actually looks pretty good.

Also, family/Jon are being annoying. Hence the "URGHacghhh"
